Description

A brochure is where your pitch gets room to breathe. Fold panels let you guide a reader from a cover hook to the details, the proof, and the call to action, all in a piece that fits in a hand or a rack. That structure is why brochures still do the heavy lifting for service menus, product catalogs, trade-show handouts, real estate packets, and program guides.

Eleven ways to fold your brochures

Match the fold to how your content flows:

  • Half Fold and Tri-Fold — the classics for a clean, familiar layout.
  • Z-Fold and Accordion Fold (4 panel) — for step-by-step or timeline content.
  • Open and Closed Gate Fold — for a dramatic reveal of a center panel.
  • Roll Fold (4 panel), Double Parallel, Double Parallel Reverse, Half Fold Then Half Fold, and Half Fold then Trifold — for longer, more detailed pieces.

Seven sizes

Choose the flat sheet that fits your fold and content: 6″ x 9″, 7″ x 14″, 8.5″ x 11″, 8.5″ x 14″, 9″ x 12″, 11″ x 17″, and 12″ x 18″. The size you pick is the flat, unfolded dimension.

Paper stocks for your brochures

Print on 80 Lb. Glossy Paper for a light, flexible brochure, 100 Lb. Glossy Paper for a heavier, more premium sheet, or 10 Pt. Glossy Cardstock for a rigid, durable piece. Every brochure prints full color on both sides so every panel works.

What you get

Order from 25 to 11,000 brochures — a low minimum that suits a small service menu or a full catalog run. Standard production runs 2 to 4 business days, and rush printing brings it down to 2 business days. Everything is printed in-house on our Konica AccurioPress production press in Morristown, Tennessee.

Before you pay, you will see a live proof of your artwork with the bleed, trim, and safe area drawn on top, so your panels line up and nothing important lands on a fold. Designing from scratch? The Templates tab above has every brochure size ready in AI, INDD, PSD, PDF, and JPG.

Design Guide

For the best results, set up your file to these specifications before uploading. Following them helps ensure accurate cutting, correct color, and a clean, professional print.

Document Size and Bleed

Design your file at the flat, unfolded size you selected (for example, a flat 8.5″ x 11″ sheet for a tri-fold). Then:

  • Extend your background 0.0625″ past the trim on every outside edge (the bleed).
  • Keep all text and logos 0.0625″ inside the trim (the safe area).
  • Set your fold lines as guides and keep text clear of each crease. On folds like tri-fold and roll fold, the panel that folds inward is slightly narrower — build your panels to match, or start from the template so the widths are already correct.

Print file setup diagram showing bleed, trim and safe zones

The easiest way to get the panels and folds exactly right is to start from our templates, which already have the trim, bleed, safe area, and fold lines drawn in for each size.

Image Quality

Create or place all images and graphics at a minimum of 350 DPI at final print size. Low-resolution artwork looks soft or pixelated once printed, and enlarging a small image will not add detail back.

Color Mode

Design in CMYK, the standard color format for commercial printing. Files built in RGB will be converted for print, and bright blues, greens, and neons can shift noticeably. Converting them yourself lets you see and correct those shifts before you order.

Color Profile

Use GRACoL2006_Coated1v2.icc. This is the profile our press is calibrated to, and designing in it is the closest you can get to seeing your printed result on screen before it is printed. Set it under Edit > Color Settings > CMYK in Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, and keep it assigned when you export.

Blacks

For large solid black areas, use C60 M40 Y40 K100. Black on its own (K100) is semi-transparent and looks washed out across a big fill. For small text, thin lines, and fine details, use plain K100 instead, since rich black on small elements can cause colored fringing. This matters on brochures, where body copy and captions are usually small text.

Fonts

Convert all text to outlines before saving, or embed the fonts in your PDF. A font we do not have installed will be substituted, and your layout will change.

Accepted File Formats

We support PDF, AI, EPS, PSD, TIF, TIFF, JPG, PNG, BMP, and GIF. Whenever possible, submit a print-ready PDF — it preserves your fonts, layout, and color settings better than any other format.

File Size Limit

Uploaded files must be 75 MB or smaller. If your file is larger, contact us and we will set up an alternative transfer method.

Start From a Template

The easiest path is to skip the setup entirely. The Templates tab above has every size ready to download in AI, INDD, PSD, PDF, and JPG, with the trim, bleed, safe area, and fold lines already drawn in.

File Review and Proof

After you upload, you will see a live proof of your artwork with the bleed, trim, and safe area drawn on top — review it before you pay. Your file also goes through a brief pre-production check to confirm dimensions, bleed, and resolution. If we spot anything that could affect the print, we will reach out before moving forward.

Before You Submit

Files that are not set up to spec can delay production. Double-check your document size, bleed, resolution, fold and panel placement, and color mode before uploading, and when in doubt, start from a template.

FAQ
What fold styles do you offer for brochures?

Eleven: Half Fold, Tri-Fold, Z-Fold, Accordion Fold (4 panel), Roll Fold (4 panel), Open Gate Fold, Closed Gate Fold, Double Parallel Fold, Double Parallel Reverse Fold, Half Fold Then Half Fold, and Half Fold then Trifold.

What sizes do brochures come in?

Seven flat sizes: 6" x 9", 7" x 14", 8.5" x 11", 8.5" x 14", 9" x 12", 11" x 17", and 12" x 18". The size you choose is the flat, unfolded sheet before it is folded.

What paper are brochures printed on?

Three stocks: 80 Lb. Glossy Paper for a light, flexible brochure, 100 Lb. Glossy Paper for a heavier premium feel, and 10 Pt. Glossy Cardstock for a rigid, durable piece. All print full color on both sides.

Do I design at the flat size or the folded size?

Design at the flat, unfolded size and set your fold lines as guides, keeping each panel and its text clear of the creases. Because panels differ slightly in width on some folds, the safest path is to start from our template for your size and fold.

What is the minimum brochure order?

Just 25, up to 11,000 in a single run — a low minimum that works for a small service menu as well as a large catalog campaign.

How fast can I get brochures printed?

Standard production takes 2 to 4 business days, and rush printing brings it down to 2 business days. Shipping time is added on top and depends on your address.

Do you offer free brochure templates?

Yes. Every brochure size and all eleven fold styles have a free downloadable template with the trim, bleed, safe area, and fold and panel lines already drawn in. Each one comes in AI, INDD, PSD, PDF, and JPG, so your panels line up the first time. Download them from the Templates tab above.
